Anode Types

Which Anode Type do I need?

There are 3 common anode types available. It is important to fit the correct type, this is dependent on the water where your boat is kept.

Aluminium:

Aluminium anodes are recommended if the boat is used in brackish waters. They can also be used in fresh waters, however they don't offer as much protection as Magnesium anodes.

Magnesium:

Magnesium anodes are recommended for use in fresh waters only.

Zinc:

Zinc anodes are only for use if the boat is used in salt water. If these anodes are used in fresh water, an oxide layer forms rendering the anode useless.
